She has worked in Education as a classroom teacher, senior teacher, deputy principal, adviser and private consultant.

Charlotte, along with her husband Nigel designs and publishes Wilkie Way numeracy resources available from the online store and the members area of this website.

Charlotte's philosophy is that every students is capable of learning maths. Every students needs to be exposed to a rich variety of mathematical learning opportunities that challenge their thinking and builds their knowledge. Exposure is insufficient, it requires a teacher with knowledge of the maths inherent in the learning opportunity and knowledge of the student to know how much support is required.

Challenge + Support = Learning

School Based & On line Professional Learning Development

Teacher Only Days - a single day with content requested from the school.

Series of three or four days over a school year - usually a Teacher only day and 2 or 3 in class/group modelling and professional discussion days.

Extended PLD (Normally 2 - 3 years) - for a single school or a cluster of schools. This can be school funded or a combination of centrally funded and school funded.

The content of the professional learning is negotiated between the school and myself, beginning with the school or cluster vision of where they would like to be. We jointly plan a professional learning within the constraints of time and budget. At all times the school are in charge of their learning and an expectation is set that professional learning becomes part of the school or cluster and is sustained beyond the intervention time.

There is a limit on the number of schools who can be accommodated in any one year.

There is space for one or two new schools from term three 2023

Developing an understanding of the Mathematics Learning Progression Frameworks

I have developed a number of online workshops to assist teachers to understand and make use of the mathematics learning progressions for planning and delivering quality mathematics programmes. The focus is on moderation of student work, using the exemplar material. All participants are provided with a PDF handbook to be printed and used during the approximately 1.5 hour session.

The sessions can be delivered to a single whole school staff, a syndicate from one school,  or to a group of teachers teaching at a similar level across a Kahui Ako.

For a quality learning experience the group size is kept to no more than 10 participant.

Schools working with me using central funding can use hours assigned as agreed in the PLD journal when planning the PLD.

Schools self funding can request workshops by contacting charlotte@ncwilkinsons.com
